Remarkable difference
I used the Halti harness for the first time today and the difference was absolutely remarkable. I had tried the head harness and hoped against hope that my Lab would respond to the chest harness. The Halti harness is so easy to use and immediately gives you complete confidence in controlling your dog, which in turn makes yourself and the dog more relaxed.
I like that fact that you put the Halti harness on over the dog's head. The last harness we had needed to go on over the dog's front legs then did up on her back, which we only managed with treats and a lot of luck.
As the harness also joins to the collar by way of a clip it gives double contol and I use this when my children want to walk her, which they could never do on a normal collar.
Very impressed with the product, easy to use, does what I need it to do and, so far, I haven't found any negatives.
Halti harness - used on labrador
We've had our halti harness now for about a year and are coming back to buy a new one as the hook at the front has become very stiff despite oiling (though the dog wears it constantly, including when swimming, so this is in now way a criticism of the manufacturing!).
We originally tried the muzzle based halti on our lab (who is now 2). We found that this gave excellent control, you could literally hold the lead with one finger and still control the dog. However, the dog hated it and kept lying down to try and rub it off his face.
This halti harness works very well, but it does not stop pulling as the packaging suggests. It reduces pulling significantly and makes the dog much easier to control. It's perfect for us as our dog is no longer a real problem-puller, but it does give us the ability to stay on our feet if he suddenly tries to shoot off after a cat!
Another big advantage is the strap over the dog's back - fantastic for catching hold of the dog...
