The toys are soft to the touch, and claim to be machine washable (although I have not had to do that as of yet) and a little floppy in places giving the dogs a place to grab and carry (making them look faintly ridiculous, I might add). However the real bonus...

Size: 22" long x 7 1/2" wide x 1 1/2" thick.
Ultimate construction: each toy is made with two layers of industrial grade luggage material and 1 layer of soft fleece on the outside. All of these layers are sewn together to make one strong layer of material. Each toy is sewn together with 2 layers of cross stitching and then 2 layers of linear stitching. Each of the toys are washable (air dry) and they float !

All Tuffy's are rated on an Tuff Scale by the manufacturer. These toys will withstand tugging and fetching games, but won't not be suitable for a dog that likes to chew. These tough SOFT toys are designed for interactive play, tougher than the average soft toy but they are not chew toys nor they are indestructible. No dog toy is.
If it's given to a young dog, who is still in their chewing phase, then the puppy will most definitely pull the toy apart very quickly. Similarly a dog who simply likes to pull things apart, will find a way into a Tuffy's toy.
Taking the toy away at the first sign of the dog trying to do damage, can extend the life of the toy.
Tuffy's toys do have several layers, so the best way to preserve the toy for longer is to remove it from the dog as soon as you see he's starting to chew or tear into it. Trim back any loose bits off the toy and re-introduce at a later date, but always supervise the dog's play with a Tuffy's toy.
