What happens, is that my dogs always set out to first locate this 'soft spot' in the middle of the toy, and chew it through (by now it takes them about 15 minutes). Once they are done with that, they keep playing with the two separate pieces. This is fine and they keep being interested in these separate pieces. The only issue is that once they have the two separate pieces the next big 'goal' is, for each separate piece, to 'peel' the red flexible material off the lighter colored harder core. While they do this, the red material occasionally comes off in chunks so that I always watch them to make sure that they are not...
Only thing that survives
I bought one of these when I fetched our six month old puppy from the RSPCA, along with a few other toys. A year later this is the only one that is still going, admitedly it recently lost one of the ends but it has been chewed and chewed and chewed. I have tried many other toys over the year but this one is the only one that has kept going. I have to admit that the bigger one isn't quite as sturdy as this one as he had one for Christmas and has managed to chew it so it is almost in two pieces. Will be ordering him a new smaller one very soon.
