The plus side is it works as a great deterrent: if I don't want her to jump on the sofa, for example, I show her the brush and she comlies!
The quality of the brush isn't great - there is a removable plate for cleaning, but this seems to come off at will, as does the battery pack. If I was buying another ionic brush, I probably wouldn't buy this one.
