Not really for small dogs!
I had to return this product straight away. It does state that it is big enough for a large cat/small dog, and as the product is called Dogmate Dog door I ordered it for my minature Jack Russell. The product claims to suit dogs up to shoulder height of 14". My dog is only 10" at her shoulder and there was no way she would fit through this and its quite narrow too. The product is really good quality and would have been perfect for the job if the size was right. If your dog is bigger than a medium size cat I would avoid!
Strong and sturdy, but watch out for teething puppies
We bought this over 6 months ago and our two young (now 8 months old) Jack Russell-Shih Tzu-Schnauzer cross puppies burst through it a hundred times a day, every day, chasing each other, dragging toys through etc - it is still holding strong and not giving us any problems, despite the rather gung-ho approach our little things take to using it.
That being said, I have two minor complaints about this door:
1. The locks on the door - our dogs decided to chew them off while we were away from the kitchen so now we have no means of locking it! Luckily they didn't swallow the bits they'd chewed off.
2. The electromagnetic locking sounds like a good idea, but doesn't work well when you have a dog that is in a rush to get into the house as they don't wait long enough for it to unlock. We've decided to take the battery out and use it as a non-locking flap with our fingers crossed that no unwelcome visitors will make an appearance! Also the magents are a bit heavy so bear...

This has not been fitted as yet so I am unable to give full review, but on inspection I feel it will meet all requirements when fitted.
