It took a little while for him to understand that he was supposed to touch it with his nose rather than chew the end of it. Although he is a bit like a child with ADHD, the metal at the end just bent and almost snapped off after a few sessions. Our second one has lasted much longer! He almost never chews it, but the rubbery target on the end of the stick is sometimes too much for him to resist :-)
