I've used this stuff for 5 years on my Rottweilers, and before that on my cat (RIP George!) and they've never had fleas or ticks under this treatment.
If you go to Frontlines site they also do a free email reminder service that will email you when the next treatment should be applied.
Frontline is a wee bit expensive but in my opinion it's better than the other stuff I've tried. You get what you pay for I suppose.
Unlike the silly woman who used this on her little puppy, you *must not* use the 40-60kg treatment on puppies, I know that's blatant common sense but it seems some people out there were at the back of the queue when brains were handed out.

I have been using this product for over 11 years on my Newfoundland with no side effects whatsoever. In all that time we have never found a flea on her or in the house and have only found two ticks on her - generally my fault for leaving too long between treatments.
With regard to the one star review on here all I can say is - is your 11 week old puppy REALLY 40-60kg? It sounds like you may have overdosed the poor thing. Personally, I would not give a puppy or adolescent dog any supplements or medication not recommended and sanctioned by my vet - better safe than sorry.
